In the spirit of Halloween, the opening sketch of "Saturday Night Live" took a humorous approach to President Joe Biden's age. Mikey Day portrayed a struggling Biden as he adorned the Oval Office with bat decorations. To his surprise, "Papa Pumpkin" Christopher Walken and newly appointed Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (Michael Longfellow) made appearances.

Throughout the skit, Day's Biden could be seen huffing and puffing. He clarified, "I'm not out of breath. I'm just excited because Halloween is the greatest holiday in the world."

Amidst climbing a wobbly ladder, Biden addressed the audience, "Here's the bottom line. The world is currently a pretty scary place. Wars, shootings, climate change, and everything in the new Britney book." He humorously added, "I want to reassure everyone. Nothing puts people at ease like an 80-year-old man hanging Halloween decorations."

The jokes about Biden's age persisted, with him reminiscing about a ladder being considered "cutting-edge technology" in his youth, comparing it to an iPad. He also shared his love for Halloween, mentioning that many of his closest friends are ghosts. Biden humorously claimed to battle the Grim Reaper "every single day."

Other Halloween skits featured on "Saturday Night Live" included a parody of the Hallmark Channel, where an axe murderer reunites with his high school sweetheart. Additionally, there was a trick-or-treat skit with Fran Drescher showcasing costumes approved by SAG-AFTRA during the ongoing actor's strike.

The host for Saturday's show was comedian Nate Bargatze, and the musical guest was Foo Fighters.
